Michael Taylor is a 2020 1B/RHP, 3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Basking Ridge, NJ who attends Gill St Bernard's. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front and comes through it well with lower half, works on top of throws, some bend at the waist but shows actions to the backhand and can drop slot with comfort, solid arm strength and accuracy with a short arm stroke on throws. Also pitched, rock step moving into delivery with a leg lift up past belt; gathers on back side and remains on line down the mound with lower half. Full arm action through the back, fastball topped out at 83 mph, mostly true in life, gets mistimed with arm stroke through the back at times. Showed 11-5 shape to curveball, tight rotation with short depth. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open and upright stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing and has moving parts to load. Incorporates physical strength well and shows jump off the barrel when on time, creates extension out front. Occasionally gets to front side early, comfort working to the middle and pull side parts of the field, does a nice job of getting closed moving into contact. Very good student.
