Oscar Villarreal is a 2021 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-1 220 lb. frame from Anaheim, CA who attends Katella. A primary right handed pitcher, Villarreal pitches with intent from a mid-to-low three-quarters slot. Fastball worked up to 82 miles per hour early before sitting in the upper-70s for most of the outing. Works rotational in the delivery and really works hard to get out over the front side. High leg kick into a tall and fall delivery down the mound. Shows good feel for a curveball in the mid-60s, with some good shape and late 10-to-4 break. Able to get big swings and misses with the curveball, and really pitches off that pitch to get outs. Flashes occasional changeup with some late action. Shows some advanced pitchability and can throw three quality pitches for strikes. Looks as though there is some natural strength in the lower half, and cleaning that up with some more efficient movements is important to development. Secondary corner infielder. Right handed bat with an upright and open stance. Has a deep hand load and slides into contact with the lower half. Has a long and extended path to contact and leveraged barrel plane.
