James Laird is a 2021 1B/RHP/OF with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Carrollton, TX who attends Hebron. Large frame with athletic, projectable build. Hits from wide-spread, relaxed stance; some length to stroke but smoothness and bat speed there, found rhythm and timing and jumped some balls as a result, good carry when square, projectable tools. Worked out at first base, hands work out front, fields clean and spins well, overtop arm stroke with accuracy to either 2nd or 3rd. Pitched as well, repeatable mechanics, inline and downhill operation, shorter arm stroke, fastball worked 76-79 mph, flashes sink, also mixes in curveball with 12/6 shape, good depth and bite to the break. Good student.
