Benjamin Burton is a 2019 RHP/SS with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Wellsville, MO who attends Wellsville High School. Medium, ahtletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.23 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, up-tempo pace to delivery, has moving parts but repeats well and stays on line towards the plate, short stride with lower half and some drop and drive to delivery. Full arm action through the backside working to a three-quarters arm slot, generates nice extension and finishes well, slight cut action and topped out at 78 mph. Work exclusively out of the stretch, fills the strike zone with fastball and shows a feel for an 11-5 shape curveball, occasionally breaks early out of the hand, shows depth when on top, consistently works ahead in the count. Similar full arm action in the infield, extended three-quarters slot, moves well laterally to either side, long exchange but actions are clean, shows quickness to both arm and footwork. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow base and a high hand set in the box. Short weight shift through lower half, stays short to the ball with bat path, hands remain compact in swing and uses a contact approach at the plate. Line drive swing plane, gets the barrel through the zone well and repeats mechanics nicely, works the middle of the field with comfort and gets the barrel to the ball. Very good student.
