Jordan Compton is a 2018 SS/RHP/3B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Oklahoma City, OK who attends Carl Albert HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.07 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling out front and worked through exchange with fluidity. Flashed quality arm strength across the infield creating stiff carry to the bag, topped at 88 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Hands start at a slightly lower slot and lower half works to contact with rotational actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent and created good bat speed through the zone. Utilized an aggressive approach while at the plate and looked to drive the ball with authority to the pull side gap. Also pitched using a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Tends to land at a slightly closed position creating some cross fire. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some jump out of hand with solid downhill plane in the mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and solid depth in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering that showed slight fade to arm side in the mid 70's. Consistently pounded the bottom of the strike zone with all three pitches and consistently kept hitter off balance. Outstanding student. Named to the 2017 South Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
