Ohjiro Motoki is a 2019 RHP/ with a 5-10 205 lb. frame from Cresskill, NJ who attends Cresskill. Medium frame with broad shoulder and a strong, athletic build. Ran a 7.13 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Created pause at the top of gather with slight coil over back let. Works to the plate with drop and drive actions and carries momentum through finish well. Long arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Flashed good arm speed with a fastball offering that had heavy downward angle through the zone with running action to arm side in the low to mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. Showed good feel for fastball with the ability to consistently work to each edge of the plate. Maintained arm speed with a curveball offering that had 11/5 shape with tight spin and late, hard depth in the mid 70's. Also flashed a straight changeup in the mid 70's as well. Worked ahead early with fastball and showed solid swing and miss potential with curveball late in counts. Also worked out defensively from the outfield utilizing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions and transfer into a high three-quarters release. Throws created stiff, on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched even stance. Stacks back side at load and shifts into contact with aggressive linear actions. Direct hand path to contact with a level, line drive plane through extension. Created solid barrel whip through the zone with strength at contact. When squared, ball jumped off the barrel very well creating tight back spin to the gaps. Good student. Named to the 2017 Sunshine Northeast Showcase Top Prospect List.
