Matthew Oliden is a 2020 C/1B with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Whittier, CA who attends La Salle. Medium physical build with present strength throughout. Primary catcher, has free and loose actions overall behind the plate. Replaces feet well and is sufficient in getting out of his crouch. Still developing accuracy down to second base with his throws. Posted a 2.11 second pop time. At the plate, has a simple and quiet swing with quick hands through the zone. Begins his load late at times but possesses solid pop to his pull side when on time and able to get the barrel head out to inside pitches. Has a simple linear weight shift in his lower half that creates leverage nicely. Consistent backspin with a middle of the field approach and a solid all around feel for the barrel.
