Cooper Nelson is a 2020 RHP/SS with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Palm Harbor, FL who attends East Lake HS. Recorded a 7.40 second 60-yard dash time. Lean and athletic build with wiry strength and room to fill out. Primary righthanded pitcher with a loose and quick arm action. Good rhythm and tempo down the mound. Balanced delivery with a short rocker step and a high leg lift. Extended, lower three-quarter arm slot. Controls the running game well and mixes pitches to keep hitters off balance. Good command of the strike zone. Curveball showed 9/4 action with pretty solid rotation. Maintains good arm speed on the pitch and has downward bite in the zone. Fastball up to 84 mph and showed good life depending on side of the plate. Flashed a changeup and showed solid feel for it. Secondary shortstop with a full arm path. Ball comes out clean and feet work well through the ball. Arm strength up to 84 mph across with good carry. Righthanded hitter with a leg lift trigger int the swing. Spread open stance with a direct path to contact. Linear lower half shift and can drive the ball to all fields. Named to the 2017 Florida Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List. Tremendous student.
