Gerald Nervis, Jr. is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Oakland, CA who attends San Leandro. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Ran a 7.15 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfield with clean, athletic actions while closing to the baseball. Fluid glove actions while working through pick up and worked through exchange well. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a violent three-quarters slot. Ball jumped out of hand well producing accurate carry to the bag, topped at 85 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct path to contact with a level, line drive plane through extension. Flashed good hand quickness that produced present bat speed with strength at contact. Ball jumped off barrel well produced hard, loud contact when matching pitch plane. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Hides baseball well with a medium arm circle and released from a compact three-quarters slot. Fastball generated heavy running action in the low 80's, topped at 84 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and sharp depth. Also flashed a 9/4 slight that also featured tight spin with late tilt to glove side. Solid feel for all three pitches and consistently kept hitters off balance and induced weak contact. Named to the 2017 NorCal Showcase Top Prospect List.
