2016 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Alex Crosby is a 2018 OF/LHP, 1B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Wilson, NC who attends James Hunt High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out and add strength. Posted a 7.51 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary outfielder, showed developing footwork and raw arm strength. Graded out better as a first basemen, accuracy on feeds, fluid actions, and a clean receiver. At the plate, started with a narrow base, open stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Swing worked primarily through upper half with raw bat speed. Hands working well through zone with best contact coming up the middle of the field. Will continue to improve with additional lower half in swing. Also pitched, online delivery, leg raise past belt, uptempo delivery, long arm action, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Pitched to contact and was around the zone. Landed on a stiff front leg with balance. Fastball worked 70-73/74 mph with occasional sink to the lower third. Outstanding student.
