Alexander Voss is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-4 165 lb. frame from South Bend, IN who attends St Joseph's. Large frame with wiry strength. Frame projects for plenty of additional size and strength. Ran a 6.98 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, weight falls downhill creating good on line direction to the plate. Carries momentum through the plate well while working through finish due to aggresive lower half push. Releases form a three-quarters arm slot that produces slight downhill life when elbow slot is up. Fastball has good life with slight cutting action when elbow slot is high, tends to drop slit at times causing baseball to flatten some. Curveball has 9/4 shape with some spinning action. Has some depth and sweep that flashes when arm speed is accelerated. Shows good command for each pitch with the willingness to attack hitters on the inner half of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing a compact action with solid strength, topping at 85 mph. Throws produced accurate, on line carry to the bag. Funnels baseall with clean glove actions to side of frame with smooth footwork. Right handed hitter with a tall, narrow stance. Lower half launches to contact with rotational actions generating some torque. Hands attack on a very compact, direct inside path creating a line drive swing plane. Primarily used an oppsite field approach allowing the baseball to travel deep into the zone. Has some jump off the barrel to the gaps when creating separation and connecting with baseball out front. Good student. Named to 2016 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List.
