AJ DeMastrie is a 2023 C/RHP, 3B, IF with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Woodstock, GA who attends River Ridge. Medium frame with a stocky type build showing strength throughout. Ran a 6.99 second sixty yard dash. Primary Catcher, sitting down in his stance showing some flexibility in the lower half. Reaching for the baseball at times. Catch and release skills present on throw downs as he gets it out of hand with urgency. Throws were accurate as he recorded a pop time of 1.97 seconds. Feel for the position present in games and projects here going forward. Secondary Third Baseman, sitting back a bit before working into routine. Some lateral range present. Scoops it up and works into transfer. Accurate from multiple slots as he threw it 83 mph during drills. Switch Hitter, from the right-side, spread out as he works into a short stride. Relies on the hands to generate bat speed as he stays short to the baseball. Knows how to leverage the baseball and create backspin. Drove it deep to the pull-side. From the left-side, spread out and sitting down in stance. Hands work from this side too as he fires the bat head through the zone. Looks to drive it to the pull-side and also flashed signs of power on this side of the box. Legit switch hitting abilities. Great Student. Named to Southeast Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.
