Trey Torain is a 2018 C/1B with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Evanston, IL who attends Loyola Academy. Large, athletic frame with projection to fill. Slightly open stance with a spread lower half. Transfers weight through contact with the lower half. Shows a flat bat path thru zone, creates loft in swing when top half stays quiet. Some present strength and bat speed that can reach the gaps, will continue to develop with future strength. Good in game approach with willingness to hit to all fields. Athletic behind the plate with smooth actions while receiving. High set up for throws to second. Clean exchanges and solid directional drive that resulted in accurate throws to bag. Topped at 69mph. 2.11 best pop, will improve as arm strengthens. Solid catcher for age. Projects to be a solid defender.
