Chip Ogles is a 2019 LHP/OF/1B with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Ashland, AL who attends Central High School of Clay County HS. Compact, young build, still growing and developing. Primary left handed pitcher, works from third base side of the rubber, quick up-tempo delivery out of the windup. Uses compact arm-action with high leg raise, repeats delivery solidly for his age. Fastball in upper-60s, topping out at 70 mph, showed solid armside command of offering, threw strikes for the most part. Comofortably mixes in low-60s breaking ball with good bite and gloveside finish. Also flashes rare changeup in low-60s. Competitor on mound with bulldog mentality, not afraid to challenge hitters. Also plays outfield and first base, shows soft hands, could work through the ball more consistently. Left handed hitter, narrow base setup with tighter hands close to body, uses good leg lift and shift, gets more spread at contact. Aggressive approach that should translate well with additional strength at physical maturity. Excellent student.
