Matthew Canizares is a 2021 OF/RHP with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from East Elmhurst, NY who attends Monsignor McClancy Memorial. Showed good speed and athleticism, running a 6.97 second sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder that has quick and fluid actions to field, accelerating through the ball and making accurate throws to bases with present arm strength at 88 miles per hour. Has a hanging load at the plate, making consistently hard contact with a loose swing and all fields approach. Has a high-contact approach, putting together a good round of batting practice. Secondary right-handed pitcher with an athletic build. Has simple drop and drive mechanics down the mound, with a long and loose arm action from a three-quarter slot. Has some exploding life to the fastball up to 83 miles per hour. Shows feel to spin a curveball with 11-5 shape at 70 miles per hour. Also flashed knuckleball at 67 miles per hour. Good student.
