Willie Weiss is a 2018 SS/RHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Portland, OR who attends Westview HS. Tall and slender young build, projects well physically. Right handed hitter, hunched over stance with low hands, tends to start his swing and get to his front side early, uphill approach with a high posed finish, tends to get under the ball, aggressive swing and has the beginnings of some bat speed, mid field contact, good looseness in his swing and should continue to improve with more strength and a better swing plane. Young defensive actions, feet work well and he stays balanced and works through the ball. Two way prospect on the mound, arm strength showed better there. Back turn delivery that he rotates through well, low 3/4's arm slot, gets good tailing action on a fastball that topped out at 82 mph. Slurve type breaking ball had some sweeping depth and was effective, threw strikes with both pitches. Good young athlete overall who has a chance to develop on both sides of the ball. Good student.
