Joseph is a 6-2, 170 lb left handed pitcher from Texas with a lean, slender build. He has a ton of natural ability that we were only able to see flashes of either because Joseph was trying to hard or because of problems with his pitching mechanics. Joseph has a long arm action with very good arm speed. He throws from a high 3/4's to overhand release point. For much of his outing in Waco, Joseph was landing very hard and stiff on his front side with some recoil, which left virtually every one of his fastballs high and outside to right handed hitters. Joseph's early fastballs were in the 85-87 mph range, very good velocity for a projectable young southpaw. After struggling to throw strikes, Joseph made some adjustments and pitched at 77-79 mph with better command. He threw a short 71 mph slider and a 69 mph change up but was primarily a fastball pitcher. Lefties who throw 87 mph and project well are hard to find and we have to believe that we didn't see all of Joseph's ability. He should be a top follow for college coaches. He is also a good student.
