Ashton McGee is a 2017 MIF with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Goldsboro, NC who attends Charles B Aycock HS. Strong athletic , build, fairly mature physically. 6.83 runner, third baseman's build physically but might be playable at second base as well, throws have good carry across the diamond, fields out front with soft hands, showed the ability to throw from multiple slots and make accurate throws. Left handed hitter, upper half swing but has the strength to do it, line drive swing plane with some lift out front, has bat speed and is strong and behind the ball at contact, ball comes off the barrel hard, was well timed in games, power to come in the future. Reminds of Reds first round draft pick Nick Senzel at the same age before Senzel went to college and really blossomed. Good student, verbal commitment to North Carolina.
