2006 National Showcase
Brett Krill is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Aliso Niguel HS, residing in Laguna Niguel, CA. He has a continually developing 6'4" 200 lb. body that has a classic "V" shape going from his waist to his shoulders. Those shoulders are broad and strong and hanging from them are long arms. Krill also has long legs and may have the top combination of strength and speed of all the power hitting prospects in the '07 class. His body will keep on getting stronger while at the same time keeping his good speed. His performance in Fayetteville had Krill ranked #17 among PG National Top 100 position players and earned him a selection as an Aflac All-American. He has a knack for getting the barrel to the ball and he looks to be a future big time RBI man. Krill sets up at the plate and has a swing that is very similar to that of MLB star Moises Alou. He can actually look a bit long but he has a quick trigger and has little trouble getting to the pull side against top velocity. His BP session was outstanding, with balls flying off his bat. Krill has a lively, flat swing that produces hard ground balls and line drives with carry. He does have the ability to lift a ball too. When his timing is dialed in, there are very few bats in the '07 class that are as productive as Krill's, and he is still getting better. In the outfield he combines speed and an easy, strong arm to project as an everyday right fielder. He does need to continue to work on his angles and jumps, but his closing speed and accurate arm (with quick release) are pluses. On the bases Krill runs a whole lot better than his 4.59 home to first time, much more reflective of his 6.77 laser timed 60. He glides around the bases with long strides that are picking up big chunks of ground, quite fun to watch. Committed to UCLA, Krill is also likely going to have crosschecker attention this spring, as his tools project to the upper rounds of the draft.
