Elys Escobar is a 2013 C with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Valencia, VE who attends Olga Bayones HS. Large physical build, going to be a very strong young man in a few years. Very good defensive actions and tools, receives the ball well, energetic blocker with good technique, shows quick hands and feet, plenty of arm strength, accurate throws, 1.90 best pop time. Right handed hitter, busy load with leg kick creates timing problems, loose long swing with extension, has some bat speed and power potential, strength in his swing, hitting tools to develop if he simplifies his load/approach. Nice 17 year old Venezuelan prospect, definitely has a pro future.
