Nick Long is a 2016 RHP/OF/IF with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Sarasota, FL who attends Sarasota HS. Broad shouldered very athletic build, has gained noticeable lower half strength since last year, still projects moving forward. Two-way prospect who has transitioned to a primary pitcher, easy loose delivery with good lower half use, high 3/4's arm slot, ball comes out easily out front. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 90 mph, mostly straight, can work down in the zone more consistently. Very good curveball, hard spin with sharpness and big depth, showed feel for his curveball and could throw it as a strike or chase pitch at will. Didn't observe a change up. Projects very well on the mound. Best we've seen him with the bat, hits with tight hands but powers through contact and gets good extension out front, has a fluid swing with bat speed, showed the ability to lift the ball, pull to mid field contact, looked very comfortable and confident in the box. Keeps getting better in all areas. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to Florida.
