Mikal Hill is a 2011 MIF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Mallard Creek HS. Slender athletic build. Very smooth actions at shortstop, quick balanced feet, works through the ball, confident sure hands, quick exchange, shows athleticism, throws carry, gets on top of his throws, can stay at SS at a high level. Switch-hitter, contact approach, simple load and swing both sides, lacks upper body strength to drive the ball at present, some hand quickness, line drives to all fields, handles the barrel, flashed some pop left handed. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to South Carolina.
