2007 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Peter Bako is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'1'', 175 lb. frame from Mississauga, ON who attends Lorne Park SS. He has an athletic frame and good strength potential. Bako showed a very good all around set of tools for a catcher, in addition to being a left handed hitter. He's a 7.01 runner with good body life and quickness. Bako is quick and compact behind the plate and keeps his actions simple and short. He threw 76 mph in drills with a best pop time of 2.00 and was consistent with his throws. Bako's pop times will go down with a quicker release but he's under control now and doesn't really need to speed things up too much. Offensively, Bako hits from a spread stance with good balance at the ball and a level swing that is a little long but which has good bat speed. He's strong at the ball and shows gap to gap power on contact. Bako's swing is low maintanence and consistent, which is an advantage for a catcher. Bako is a quality prospect who should be a nice college catcher. He is a good student.
