Sweeney is a top Draft prospect that we see a lot of. We are never surprised by his performance since he has been competing with Older players and prospects for nearly 5 years now. He has been elevating his game steadily over the past 10-12 months so we were aware that his game would be in peak form at the time of the Midwest event. He still exceeded some expectations by running the fastest time in the 60 registering a 6.53 on the laser, the best time we have ever seen him run. He took the field and threw either 91 or 92 on every outfield throw with plus carry to the base showing easy and smooth actions throughout. His first swing in BP hit the fence and several others did the same or went over. His body is a plus Major League build at 6 foot 5 and 205 pounds with lots of room build on and his athleticism is also in the plus range. At the plate his power is not the only thing Sweeney has to offer. His strike-zone awareness is one of the best we have seen from a High School player in the past couple years. In the games, he hit everything thrown at him and hard, many for extra bases. On 2 triples, he showed good home to third speed and played for keeps all day long. He showed in a class of his own and is a potential 1st round draft pick for the 2003 Draft this year.
