Tom Harlan is a 2008 LHP/OF/1B with a 6'5'', 180 lb. frame from San Bruno, CA, who attends Archbishop Riordan HS. Harlan has a lean, wiry, and projectable frame.. On the mound he throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a long arm circle on the back side. Harlan has a loose arm, and the ball comes out clean. He has a low effort delivery that is very deceptive to hitters. His sinking fastball topped out at 84 mph, and he projects to throw harder in the future. He also mixed in a sweeping curveball at 71 mph, and a fading change at 76 mph. Harlan threw strikes with all three pitches, and showed good pitchability for his age. He was in control during his three hitless innings striking out 8. Defensively he had good carry on his throws from the OF, and he fields well at 1B. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who is aggressive. He stays inside the ball and hits to all fields, but he likes to turn on the inside pitch.
