MARIETTA, Ga. – After a six-inning shutout, San Diego Show is headed in the right direction to win their second WWBA National Championship.

The Show defeated New Milford Express 8-0 on Sunday at East Cobb Baseball Complex. Steven Tilley pitched all six innings and was able to keep the Express from scoring.

“(Tilley has) a good downhill fastball. He worked his butt off. (He’s) a good kid, and good in the classroom, and hopefully he gets another start on Thursday at some point,” said head coach Anthony Stabile.

The Show also did well at the plate. Dillon Paulson, who is ranked the No. 1 first baseman in California for the 2015 class, led the team in RBI. Zach Weller got on base all three times at the plate scoring two of the Show’s eight runs.

Things are going well for the Show, who is now 4-0. Their solid defense has paid off keeping opponents under four runs a game.

“The ball’s rollin’. We’re looking forward to getting after it tomorrow, keep building, try and get a good seed for playoffs, and try and wrap this thing up and get it done,” explained Stabile, “We got enough arms, (our) position players are playing well, we’re playing good defense, and we’re looking forward to getting after it.”

The Show won the 2012 WWBA 14u National Championship and is hoping to do the same in this year’s 15u division.

“We came out here last year as a 14u team and we won World Wood Bat and we came out (this year) with the same group for the most part. We’re missing a couple pieces but they’re a tremendous group of kids and they play hard.

“We’re looking forward to getting deep into this tournament. That’s our goal.…..We came out here to repeat,” explained Stabile.

Players on the Show have come to multiple Perfect Game events, such as 2013 Jr. National Showcase, 2013 Sunshine West Showcase, and many others.

“Perfect Game is the best in the business. Anything Perfect Game does, we try and do,” said Stabile, “We’re trying to get our kids to the next level and Perfect Game is the perfect opportunity for us to do that.”

Although most are 2015 graduates, some of them are already planning for college.

“At this point Dillon Paulson is probably going to UCLA,” explained Stabile, “No one’s (verbally committed) but Yassin (Wahhab) is leaning toward Irvine, and we’re trying to get Morgan (Baumeister) to go to Riverside. But as of now, we’re still hoping this summer is going to be a big summer for him.”

Stabile has confidence in his team. With only three pool games left, he is hoping things go their way so they come out first in their pool.

“We came out here to win this whole thing and anything short of that’s going to be a little bit of a disappointment,” Stabile said, “But with all the talent out here anything can happen.”
