Despite the weather wreaking havoc on the completion of the 14 and 15U Regionals, there was plenty of talent spread across each of the events. Teams descended on the entire state of New Jersey and Staten Island, N.Y. in hopes of qualifying for this year’s Super25 National Championships.

14U/15U:

Austin Kreyenhagen (2025, Souderton, Pa.) got the last slot of the Friday night buzzing with his 13 punchouts across six innings for 5 Star Northeast-Mondile, while holding a talented BPC roster scoreless as well. The well-proportioned, strongly-built right-hander ran his fastball up to 87 mph early on before settling in the 83-85 mph for the duration of his outing. He employed a relatively simple delivery with clean movements into balance, good stride length out to foot strike and worked his way into a higher three-quarters arm slot. The uncommitted 2025 grad leverages down well out in front to create plenty of ride and carry through the strike zone with his fastball and mixed it well with a hammer curveball that had bite to it. He tunneled it well from the same arm slot and maintained good arm speed to generate tons of swings and misses with the pitch. He did show the ability to land a more subtle version of the pitch for strikes and manipulated its speed, shape from time-to-time. Kreyenhagen walked just one hitter along the way, harnessing his high octane mix effectively to keep his squad deadlocked in a 0-0 game. There is certainly room for the Souderton, Pa. native to add more strength to his frame, which will only aide in the future development of his current arsenal. Developing a third viable offering will allow for him to be highly sought after, completing the starter’s profile we think he possesses.
