MW Elite, WWBA North Scout Notes: Days 1-2

Brew State Baseball Academy got the bats hot early on Friday morning, as they scored four runs in each of the first two innings, leading them to an 8-0 victory over Great Lakes 16u Red. Hitting in the three-hole and leading the offensive charge for Brew State was middle infielder Marco Falletti (2023, Lake Geneva, Wis.). In his first at-bat of the day Falletti barreled up an inside fastball and drove it to the left-center field gap on a line for a double. He kept his hands inside the ball and utilized a quick turn to get the barrel out front and on time with the pitch. In his second at-bat, he crushed one off the fence in left field for another double. The athletic prospect has quick hands and a smooth swing with a fluid bat path. He displayed excellent barrel control with big jump and loud impact, and his will be a name to follow for the rest of the tournament.
 
Phenom WI 16u scored two big runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead them to a tight, 2-1 victory over the Nebraska Prospect Scout 2023’s. Holding the Phenom scoreless through the first five innings was right-hander Drew Deremer (2023, Omaha, Neb.). Deremer was lights-out for the majority of his outing, striking out eleven opposing hitters and walking just one in his five innings pitched. He threw 74 pitches in total and allowed only two hits. He sat 82-85 mph, topping out at 86 mph with a lot of life to the fastball and good ride through the zone. The body really projects, as he has a large frame with present strength and plenty of room for more. Deremer features a quick arm and a longer path with some curl in the back, and the delivery is pretty effortless and smooth. He worked mostly arm side with the fastball, and the ball really jumps out of his hand. There is definite upside here as he continues to develop his off-speed pitches.
